There are 200,000 people in Sri Lanka are believed to be blind and another 400,000 are having low vision. Further, the population of Sri Lanka is rapidly aging and diseases which affect vision are also increasing.
On the other hand according to IDC in early 2015, 22 percentage of mobile phone users in Sri Lanka are smart phone users and the percentage must be very high as of now. The prices of the smart phones are also becoming very low and the awareness is also increasing. Therefore, in future more and more people will be using smart phones.
This has been successfully tested at a Nuffield center, Kaithaddy and the user experience of the App has been improved based on the feedbacks received from the visually impaired people.

This project is unique in several ways compare to the other similar mobile applications available for visually impaired people.
